Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026 · Applies to the Needs vs Wants Android app and this website.
The short version: your live spending diary stays on your phone and is never sent to our servers. Optional backups go only to a folder you choose. We only handle data when you choose to sign in for a paid tier, pay through Google Play, PayMongo, or PayPal, send a crash report, or leave your email for the launch note. The Free tier may offer an optional rewarded ad to unlock extra seals: you tap to watch it, it never runs silently. No analytics or behavioral tracking of your diary, and we never sell data.
1. Your diary stays on your device
Every entry you log (item, cost, Need or Want, dates, budget settings) is stored locally on your phone in the app's private storage. The app never sends your diary to our servers, and we cannot see it. Wiping the diary in Settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes the app's local copy.
If you enable optional backups, Android saves a versioned JSON backup to a folder you select through the system file picker. That folder may be local or may belong to a cloud-storage app you connected; any syncing by that provider is under your control and its privacy policy. We do not choose the folder, receive the backup, or hold a copy. Deleting the app does not automatically delete files in your selected backup folder.
2. Optional account sign-in (paid tiers)
The free tier requires no account. If you subscribe to Pro or Max, you can sign in with Google or request a one-time code sent to your email so your membership can be verified and restored. Supabase Authentication processes the sign-in. We receive and store:
- your email address and Supabase account ID for authentication,
- your Google account ID if you choose Google Sign-In, and
- an entitlement record: which tier you hold and until when it is paid.
These are stored with Supabase, our backend provider, and are used solely to verify and restore your membership across installs and devices. Signing out stops the device from using the account; the entitlement record stays attached to your account so you can restore what you paid for.
3. Payments (Google Play, PayMongo, and PayPal)
How you pay depends on how you installed the app:
- Google Play: if you installed from the Play Store, Pro and Max are billed by Google Play Billing. Card and wallet details stay with Google. We receive a purchase token so we can verify and restore your membership. Cancel auto-renewing subscriptions in Google Play subscription settings.
- Direct APK (this website): payments are processed by PayMongo (GCash, cards; one-time manual-renew passes) or PayPal (subscriptions). Your card number, GCash account, and full payment details go to those providers, never to us.
In every case we record only the outcome: a payment event and the entitlement it grants (tier and paid-until date) tied to your signed-in account. Google Play, PayMongo, and PayPal have their own privacy policies for checkout data.
4. Crash reports (Sentry)
Release builds of the app may send crash reports through Sentry when crash reporting is configured and enabled, so we can find and fix bugs. A crash report contains technical details: device model, Android version, and the stack trace of the failure. It contains no diary contents: your entries, amounts, and budgets are never included.
You can turn crash reporting off at any time in the app's Settings.
5. Launch-notification emails (this website)
If you submit your email in the "Get notified" form on this site, we store that address for one purpose: emailing you when the app launches on iOS or Google Play. It is not used for marketing lists, not shared, and not sold. Ask us to remove it at any time using the contact below.
6. Optional rewarded ads (Free tier)
The Free tier may offer an optional rewarded video ad to unlock extra seals for that day. The ad only loads after you tap Watch ad. Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform may then use a device advertising ID and show a consent prompt where required. We do not use ads to track your diary, and we do not build advertising profiles from your purchases. You can skip the ad and wait for the next day's free quota instead.
7. What we do not do
- No silent or banner advertising. Ads, when offered, are opt-in rewarded videos on the Free tier only.
- No analytics or behavioral tracking of your diary in the app or on this site.
- No selling or renting of personal data, to anyone, ever.
- No reading of your diary: the app never sends it to us.
8. Your rights (Philippine Data Privacy Act)
We handle personal data in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173). As a data subject you have the right to be informed, to access the personal data we hold about you (account email, entitlement records, launch-note email), to correct it, to object to processing, to request erasure or blocking, and to data portability where applicable.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us below. We will respond within a reasonable time, and you may also lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if you believe your data privacy rights were violated.
9. Retention
- Diary data: in the app on your device; optional backup files remain in the folder you selected until you remove them.
- Account and entitlement records: kept while your account holds or held a paid tier, then removed on erasure request unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.
- Crash reports: kept per Sentry's retention window, then discarded.
- Launch-note emails: kept until the launch note is sent or you ask for removal, whichever comes first.
10. Deleting your data
You can wipe the on-device diary at any time in the app's Settings. Signing out stops this device from using your paid membership but does not delete the account record. To request erasure of the email, Google ID, and entitlement record we hold, email aceuaisolutions@gmail.com from the address on the account. We will delete that account data unless a legal obligation requires us to keep a payment record.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be posted on this page before it takes effect.
